Estate of Sophistication
Some of the most memorable interiors begin not by eliminating a home's strongest features, but by embracing them with confidence.
Estate of Sophistication is a perfect example. The entire design was inspired by the striking black nero marquina flooring that runs throughout the home.
Before purchasing the property, our clients contacted us with one question: could this bold flooring become an asset rather than a compromise? Our answer was an immediate yes. Rather than trying to soften its presence, we saw an opportunity to build a distinctive interior around it.
Working with clients who were willing to embrace a different perspective allowed the design to unfold naturally. Black curtain rods reinforced the architectural lines of the traditional windows, while a generous black high-pile rug grounded the living room and established a visual dialogue with the flooring rather than treating it as something to disguise.
With the palette established, our attention shifted to celebrating the home's architecture. A large round mirror above the fireplace softened the formal lines of the room, and the hexagonal entertaining area inspired a more unconventional solution: four generous armchairs arranged for conversation instead of the expected sectional sofa. Every decision responded to the character of the house rather than following a predetermined formula.
Classic white walls by Farrow & Ball provide a calm backdrop for contemporary lighting, carefully selected furnishings and existing family pieces, creating an interior where traditional architecture and modern living feel entirely at ease together.
